Who we are
DOUG POWER
After largely squandering a fabulous classical education from a fine U.S. college, Doug graduated with a degree in English Literature. He was interested in writing, but was too naïve to have anything to say.
So, Doug entered the work-a-day world and soon found he was existing in two hemispheres. There was the family and the work-to-live existence. And then there was the wonderful, vivid world of reading novels.
A typical workday involved writing technical procedural policies or other mundane projects. This left him disinclined to do any creative writing, other than a snippet here and there.
Now that Doug is retired, he finds himself again in two worlds. There is the ever-present and satisfying family life. And then there is the new life he has become obsessed with: creative writing.
He began by composing increasingly longer short stories, some of which became novels. These books were written for personal satisfaction and the entertainment of friends and family.
Doug’s brother Gregg has developed the same interest, but he is hellbent on publishing. He insists on sharing their personal, private creative endeavors with the world. Exposing the stories to praise and abuse, hopefully in at least equal measure.
So here they are, laying bare unproven talents with the keyboard. Fear not, dear readers, neither of them knows what AI means; much less do they rely on it. The works of Power Brothers Publishing comes from the heart.
GREGG POWER
Gregg worked in several C-level capacities while plying his trade in the medical device industry. His writing experience centered on constructing policies and procedures, mission statements, business plans, standards of performance, and pro formas. Dry stuff, truthfully, but it whetted his appetite for creative writing.
Jacob’s Cotillion is Gregg’s first novel in collaboration with his brother Doug. He who reminds Gregg every day that he has a degree in English literature.
But they are having fun, and the experience calls to mind the trite expression, “Time for a new chapter in life.” So off we go. They hope you enjoy reading Jacob’s Cotillion as much as they enjoyed creating it.
